Mission

The Global River Protection Coalition aims to advance the creation of global free-flowing river conservation policies to protect and restore riverine connectivity, biodiversity, and other associated ecosystem services.

The Global River Protection Coalition (GRPC) was founded in early 2020 by dedicated conservation advocates, practitioners, and researchers from across the globe who through collaborative, interdisciplinary, trans-scalar efforts, aim to:

  • Develop and disseminate shared messaging regarding the creation of free-flowing river protection policies.

  • Develop and disseminate interdisciplinary approaches and tools drawing on science, community engagement, policy and law to achieve protection and restoration of the world's rivers.

  • Provide and apply our collective expertise in partnership in places calling for river protection measures.

  • Work within on-going policy initiatives to advance river protection from the local to global scale.
